About our school

Established in 1973, Willans Hill School was initially known as Kurrajong Park SSP. In 1983, the Department of Education (DoE) became responsible for the school renaming it Willans Hill School.

Classified as a School for Specific Purposes, the school caters for students with diverse and complex learning needs who require intensive levels of support in a specialised setting. Classes range from Kindergarten to Year 12 and each is staffed by a Teacher and a School Learning Support Officer. The school has a strong commitment to offering all students the same educational opportunities that students in mainstream settings are able to access.

The Willans Hill School motto - Learn, Connect, Contribute - encapsulates the beliefs and purpose of the school. Highly skilled and caring staff are guided by an inclusive, collaborative ethos ensuring a shared vision and approach to rich, individualised teaching and learning programs.

Personalised Learning and Support plans are developed annually in consultation with parents and carers. These plans incorporate individual priorities for each student, outlining adjustments across a range of domains that are required for the student to achieve NSW curriculum outcomes. All programs are created with the aim of providing students with the opportunity to actively engage in an environment focused on learning. Empowering all students to develop a communication system that meets their individual needs is a major priority within all individual learning plans.

The school has a broad range of programs, which include:  STEAM curriculum; Riding for Disabled; Mindfulness and Wellbeing programs; Student Representative Council; a wide range of in school and external work experience opportunities for older students; a selection of electives for High School students including Agricultural Studies, Food Technology and Textiles. Each year students participate in Regional Multi ability sports days, Athletic Carnivals and Swimming Carnivals. Wellbeing for students, staff and the community is enhanced through our core School Expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. The school has a committed and dynamic teaching, administrative and executive staff with a range of experience and an active and involved Parents & Citizens Association.
