External supports

Our school works closely with families to make sure every child gets the support they need to learn and thrive. Sometimes this means bringing in specialist providers from outside of our school, such as therapists funded by the NDIS or other programs.

These external providers do not have an automatic right to come into our school. Any request must come from a parent or carer in writing so we can make sure the support is safe, appropriate, and in the best interest of the student.

What does external support mean?

External support means getting extra help for your child from people who are not part of our school. This may include:

This support works with what our school already provides, to meet your child’s needs.

How the process works for parents and carers

1. Parent/Carer request

2. Parent/Carer request returned to school

3. School review
Request form is taken to the Willans Hill School Learning and Support meeting to determine suitability of therapy to occur on school site.
4. Parent/Carer Update
Classroom teacher will let the parent/carer know the outcome of the therapy request.
5. Parent/Carer to Inform Therapist
Parent/carer to inform therapist, and ask them to make contact with the school.
6. Therapist clearance
Therapist to submit paperwork into Willans Hill School for clearance checks/approval.
7. Therapist Collaboration & Scheduling
Therapist to meet with classroom teacher or Learning and Support Coordinator to establish student goals and times to provide therapy.
